PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
21st January
Topic: GOD REWARDS; NOT LAZINESS…Part 5
Text: Proverbs 22:29KJV

29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men

In part four we discussed complete diligence, using David as a case study who was diligent in business as a shepherd boy and in seeking God which made him to defeat Goliath. Today we want to consider another case study of a man (Joseph) who was completely diligent and the great exploit he achieved.

Joseph had been so diligent all of his life from the days he was in his father’s house till he was sold into slavery. Even in slavery he was diligent physically and spiritually as recorded in Genesis 39: 2-11

And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

The above scripture confirmed Joseph’s diligence as he was favoured by God and man, everything he does prospers, though a slave yet was made an overseer of all of his master’s household and business (stands before kings). When he landed in prison, he was a prisoner with a difference because of his complete diligence such that the prison warder put Joseph to be in charge of all other prisoners. Joseph’s diligence paid off when from the prison, he was recommended to king Pharoah as the only man who can interpret the King’s dream (a task he won’t have been able to solve without God i.e spiritual diligence), having interpreted the King’s dream, he advised the King on what to do to save his nation from seven years of famine that will befall the world after seven years of plenty, then the king found no other person worthy to carry out this advise other than Joseph himself, hence he became a prime minister in Egypt.

Beloved, the great lesson to learn from the life of Joseph is that It does not matter where you are presently (e.g doing a job you don’t enjoy or not been paid adequately), if you can still be diligent in your business or work and in seeking God, favour will locate you, it’s just a matter of time. God bless you.

PRAYER:
* Father, help me to be diligent both in business and in seeking you in Jesus Name.
