Topic: GOD REWARDS; NOT LAZINESS…Part 3
Text: Proverbs 22:29KJV

29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men

In part two we discussed two kinds of diligence which are physical and spiritual diligence. Today we want to go a step further to discuss about complete diligence.

What I mean by complete diligence is to be diligent both physically and spiritually. Our two scriptural passages Proverbs 22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.Hebrews 11:6 ….He (God) is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, complement each other especially when a man can be diligent in business and aswell as in seeking God. What I mean is this, it is best and the reward is great when a man is diligent both physically and spiritually, but if a man is diligent only in one and not in the other it could yield no result, it could amount to labour loss and waste of time and effort and at times could bring unexpected negative rivalry from others.

A case study of a man who was completely diligent is Nehemiah and his men. Nehemiah had a great passion to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem, he sought God in prayers for the assignment and God granted him favour before the King whom he was serving. Despite that Nehemiah had the backing of God for this great task, he was diligent and moved his men to be diligent both in the task and in seeking God constantly for help. As Nehemiah and his men embarked upon this business, they had adversaries who despised their business and wanted to fight them to quit the rebuilding of the wall as recorded In Nehemiah 4:6-9

So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work. But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth, And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it. Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

Nehemiah and his men however were diligent in building the wall (business), diligent in holding their swords to fight their adversaries while they were working and diligent to pray for the help of God. Great was their reward as they successfully completed the wall of Jerusalem and assemble the disarrayed nation to a solemn gathering.

PRAYER:
* Father, help me to be diligent in all things in Jesus Name.
