Topic: NOT USEFUL TO GOD & MEN….Part 2
Text: Luke 8:36-37

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

In part one we discussed that God gave talents, gifts, grace, wisdom e.t.c to his children to be blessings to others and make heaven proud and so every talent, and gift unused is not useful to God and not beneficial to men.

Today we want to consider another important thing that is not useful to God and men and that is the body of a dead soul. Every man alive cherishes and nourishes his body, people say you look beautiful and handsome because you are alive and not dead. God also fulfils some obligations to the body of a living soul like keeping a man’s body in good health and restoring the body from sickness by his healing power. But when a man dies, his body is not useful to God, God’s obligation over that body stops, the body was made from dust and dust it returns, the only thing that is valuable to God is the soul of that man which is the man himself and that’s why our scriptural text above says what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul as there is nothing that he can use in exchange for his soul.

The body of a dead man is only not useful to God, it’s equally not useful to other men because:

* It stinks and so no longer desirable to be with
* It decays, loses beauty and freshness and so no longer attractive to anyone even his/her loved ones
* When buried it turns to sand and if the sand is gathered together in a container it probably may hadly fill up two buckets, if that sand is put for sale the price would worth nothing and if the buyer gets to know that it’s a sand from the body of a dead man he would certainly not buy any longer.

Dearly beloved, no matter how much you cherish and nuture your body when it’s gone it’s not useful to God and men, rather norish your soul the more, don’t nourish your body at the expense of your soul, for what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul.
