Topic: GRACE FOR SERVICE….Part 2
Text: 2nd Corinthians 12:9 KJV
9 He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
In part one we said service to God comes in different forms and in different folds, it’s of course not limited to the four walls of the church. A lot of time, we have the archaic mindset that we can render services to God (work for God) only in the church. It’s important we realise that today God empowers men to serve him beyond the walls of the church.
Of course service to God starts from the church as we discussed last week but not limited to nor does it end in the church. God’s service starts from the church and extends beyond the church to homes, neighborhoods, work places, market places, and various world systems. As children of God we are to serve him everywhere we are and for everyday we live.
How can we serve God beyond the church?
* Be God’s Ambassador: Be God’s representative in everyspace you occupy outside the church e.g your home or family, your neighborhood, your place of work, your school, your market place e.t.c. God wants his presence to be registered in every place beyond the church, he wants his kingdom established fully on earth not just only in the church but also every sector outside the church. And he expects us his children to announce his presence in everyspace we occupy outside the church to bring forth other who are in darkness into light
* Be a Blessing: This is another way of serving God beyond the church. Make yourself a blessing to others. Let everyone who meets with you be blessed, let everyone who you encounter leave with a good testimony of how you lightened their lives. Matthew 5:16 says let you light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father, which is in heaven. As you make your light to shine before men, then you become a blessing to the lives of men turning them from darkness into light
* Spreading the Good News: What is paramount in God’s heart is to save more souls from the Kingdom of darkness into his Kingdom of light. Now not everyone goes to church to hear the good news of salvation, therefore we must take the good news from the church to outside world. So spreading the good news in everyspace we occupy in the home, neighborhood, work place, market place e.t.c is a potent way of rendering service to God.
Beloved, dont limit your service to the church alone, take your service beyond the walls of the church, serve God everyday and everywhere you are, whether in your home, your community, your office, your school, or your market place, winning more souls to His Kingdom. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, help me to serve and represent you well in everyspace I occupy beyond the church in Jesus Name.
