Topic: THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD
Text: Psalms 107:8

8: Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

We are living beings because God permits us to be, we go through things and we are sustained by God, no one of us has ability to make or keep his life.

Sometimes, we think because we are good at planning that’s the reason things go well, we must always be conscious of the fact that we are mortals and we have limitations, it is the goodness of God that sustains us.

It is God who takes care of us, it is he who is our maker and our strength. 9 months is gone, many things had happened, we have gone through things, and God sustained us, the enemy, devil, never sleep fighting day and night yet God grants us victory.

Look verse 9 of our passage;

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. In time of needs God has been faithful to us, he fills us with his goodness.

His goodness brought us mercy, kindness, love, food, money, shelter. By his goodness we have had journey mercies on our trips, he has never forsaken us. He has been our refuge and strength, all we’ve got in these 9 months came by his goodness. He is the one who allows us to be what we want and possess what we have.

Everyone of us must live with this consciousness, no one should think he has got anything by his or her power.

Verse 16 says,

‘ For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

This is referring to obstructions on our way to prosperity, God has cleared them all, he has prospered our way and granted us smooth ride in life.

When the Psalmist was saying in verse 1 of our passage, ‘ Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men ‘, he meant how he wish men, women and children inclusive, will praise the Lord. Though we do not see God, but we feel his goodness and his wonderful works in our lives.

As this month ends today, let’s lift our voice in appreciation to God. We owe him gratitude for all he has done and all he is doing. Praise him for bringing you to the end of another month. God bless you.
