Topic: THE WORLD OF SIN….Part 7
Text: John 16:8KJV
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.
In part six we discussed that the world of sin is a world of enmity with God.
Today we want to discuss another feature or attribute of the world of sin, and that is the world of slavery to the devil
Sin makes man it’s servant and creates a world of slavery for them to his master the devil. John 8:34 says
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
So sin enslaves men to the devil, it recruits slaves for his master the devil.
It’s important to note the following about a slave:
* A slave has no will of his own: A man in the world of sin, who in turn is a slave to the devil has no will of his own but does the will of his master. It might appears the decision comes from his mind, but the truth is the the inspiration comes from the devil. Many a times such persons do things that are not convenient, it seems to them at times as if they were without their senses when commiting such sin, until they are done then their eyes become opened and their senses restored. It’s all simply because as a slave to the devil they have no will of their own but to do their master’s bid.
* A slave is at the mercy of his master: The devil tossed the lives of sinners to and fro as he wishes, like toys in his hands he could play games with their lives. Many times he catches fun by afflicting them will all manner of sicknesses, calamities, troubles, and when he likes, he could just kill and destroy them totally so that nothing will deliver them from his hand. Sinners are prey in the hand of the devil who is a predator as asked in Isaiah 49:24 saying
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
As I conclude, a sinner who is a servant of sin and a slave of the devil is not preserved for anything good other than destruction. The only thought the devil has for them is eternal damnation with him in hell, so it does not matter, what pleasure or treat the devil gives a man in the world of sin, the end is utter destruction. The only escape route is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. God bless you
