PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
11th September
Topic: MIND THERAPY…part 6
Text: 1 Samuel 1:9-18

9: So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord.
10: And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.
11: And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

The focus here is how to take care of a troubled mind, sometimes it is difficult to prevent the mind from being troubled, when it is troubled how do you take care of it?
The first point I want to make here is this: when the mind is troubled it forms a burden in the mind, the burden is the weight on the mind that’s the reason it is troubled. It is a weight that no one can remove but God, sometimes to take consolation and counsel appears difficult, it is only God who can, that’s the reason we always pray for those who lose loved ones that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss. Look at the dictionary meaning of fortitude here: strength of mind that enables one to endure adversity with courage.
Knowing that its only God who can reach the mind it is therefore absolutely important you go to God when your mind is troubled. Crying, weeping, complaining will not bring solution to a troubled mind. Hannah went to God in prayer, she took her troubled mind to the Lord in prayer, that’s the therapy, that’s how to take care of a troubled mind.

“When life’s situation gets bitter pouring one’s bitterness into the well of life through prayer makes things brighter and better.”

What happens when you pray? The troubled mind is taken to the throne of grace and there the burden is lifted, when burden is lifted in the place of prayer, even when answer has not come, the mind receives peace and assurance that all will be will.
Hannah is a practical example of what I am sharing here. Look at 1 Samuel 1:16-18

16 Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.”
17: “In that case,” Eli said, “go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.”
18: “Oh, thank you, sir!” she exclaimed. Then she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad. NLT.

You will notice that her sorrow went away when she went to pray even though her Samuel has not come. That’s Mind Therapy for a troubled mind. God bless you.
