Topic: MIND THERAPY …part 5
Text: 1 Corinthians 15:33
33: Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character. Amplified.
Corruption takes it root is the mind, corruption is defined as a state of progressive putrefaction while putrefaction is defined a state of decay usually accompanied by an offensive odor.
If your company of friends is bad you might be building corruption in your mind. Someone said, ‘ show me your friend and I will show you who you are ‘, we pick somethings from friends we spent time together, everyone you give your attention drops something in your life directly or indirectly.
As people take from you, you also take something from them, your use of words are probably what you pick from people’s words especially those you love and give attention. Friends influence us positively or negatively, some are positive to us while others are negative.
I grew up building a strong prayer life, I was on 2 hours minimum as a secondary school boy, I was just a teenager, waking early to pray from 4am, 5am for the next 2 hours was an habit to me, after school hours I did pray also, I love worship, I enjoy God’s presence, I had a friend whom we did go home together after school hours, I did create an atmosphere of worship again while he will be studying his books. One day I told myself, ‘ worship won’t make you pass your exams ‘. I found out both of us rubbed off on each other: he caught revival fire through me while his dedication to study challenged me to study more, both of us did excellently in our studies and still retained the revival fire.
“If your company is wrong, wrong communication is inevitable, and corruption of the mind is the always the end result”.
The people that speak to you on daily basis either trigger something in you for excellence or pollute your mind with stories of failure. You need people of like minds for your destiny to arrive at your destination in life. Making friends with those who don’t mind what you mind is a distraction to your destiny.
You need to watch the mindset of those who are around you, some people can’t reason alike because your purpose in life and theirs are parallel lines, that can never meet. You have to be conscious of the fact that the you’re going places and you can only get along with those going the same route with you. Selecting your companions is one way to take good care of your mind (MIND THERAPY). God bless you.
