Topic: ARISE AND BUILD…Part 3
Text: Nehemiah 4:6
6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work
In part two we said God is in the business of building; building lives, building homes, building for himself a kingdom and especially a church. We said the kind of church Jesus seeks to build and present to his father, is a church built on truth.
One of such truth is the truth about genuine salvation that
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).
Today we want to focus on a wide spread faulty doctrine which says ONCE SAVED, FOREVER SAVED with a scripture quote of John 10:28 as claim. John 10:28 says
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
In the above passage, Jesus was affirming his duty as a good Shepherd to save (give them eternal life) and to preserve from perishing (they shall never perish). Jesus was giving assurance of salvation to the end on his own part, emphasing that as I have power to save you from sin into righteousness, I equally have power to keep you away from any man or devil that want to take you away from me as my sheep, and preserve you from perishing, and that was exactly what Jesus did to Peter when he said to Peter in Luke 22:31-32
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
Jesus prayed for Peter to keep him from perishing as the devil had desired.
Lets take a look at some scriptural passage to explain the truth on this subject matter. In John 17:12 Jesus said
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition….
Jesus was saying here, that I saved them, and was committed to keep them from perishing (none of them is lost) except the son of perdition (referring to Judas Iscariot who stray away by himself). So with that can we still say once saved is forever saved? Of course no. A branch that cuts itself away from the vine is no longer saved, because it will lose it’s nutrient and strength and will soon withered and become a firewood (perish), that’s why Jesus said in John 15:6 saying
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
So anyone who has been redeemed (saved) but refuse to abide in Christ Jesus will be lost and certainly perish.
Beloved, let us arise and build a church on the truth of the scriptures and not on heresies or faulty doctrine. False teaching which is claimed to bring liberation to Christians does not bring liberation, rather it breeds deception which makes Christians to be entangled with the yoke of bondage (sin) Galatians 5:1. Only the truth that you know shall make you free (John 8:32). God bless you
PRAYER:
* Father, use me as your instrument to build for you a church with foundation on the truth in Jesus Name.
