Topic: ARISE AND BUILD…Part 2
Text: Nehemiah 4:6
6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work
In part one, we said God is in the business of building; building lives, building homes, building for himself a kingdom and especially a church. No wonder Jesus said in Matthew 16:18 that …..
upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail.
The important questions to ask are; What kind of church does he want to build? How does he want to build it? Answers to these questions will be our focus today.
Jesus seeks to build and present to his father, a church buit on truth. That’s why he said he will send the spirit of truth according to John 16:33 saying
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
One of such truth is the truth about genuine salvation that Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). Nothing can substitute the message of salvation, it is the pre-requisite to reign with Christ in eternity, even good works, moral living, being engaged in church activities or supporting the work of God financially cannot substitute the salvation of the church, rather all these are meant to compliment the salvation of a man.
Doing good works have brought about misconception about genuine salvation, Let’s see what truth the scriptures teach about salvation
- SALVATION IS BY THE NAME OF JESUS: Acts 4:12 says
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Our salvation is only in the name of Jesus and not in any other name. See also John 3:16
* SALVATION IS BY GRACE NOT WORKS: Ephesians 2: 8-9 says
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
So good works is not salvation, it is by grace through your faith in the only begotten son of God.
* SALVATION IS TO BE CONFESSED: You must confess your salvation with your mouth as you believe with your heart. Romans 10:10 says
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Beloved, we must partner with God to teach the truth of his words, for he seeks to build a church on the truth and not on heresies, enough is enough of breeding unripe Christians and babes who never grow to become soldiers, let us rise and build for the Lord like Nehemiah and his men rebuit the broken walls of Jerusalem. * Father, help me as a church to live and teach the truth of your word in Jesus Name.
