PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
28th July
Topic: SEEKERS AND KEEPERS..Part 3
Text: Psalms 119:16 KJV

16 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

In part two we discussed that to seek means to search for, to look for. The seekers are those who go in search for God, Jeremiah 29:13 makes it very clear saying

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”.

So seeking God involves searching for God. The keepers are those who observe, obey and do the will of God, they don’t joke with God’s words and instructions, they have personal relationship with God beyond what life can offer to them.
A keeper is first a seeker, the parable of Jesus about the kingdom of heaven confirmed this, according to Matthew 13:45-46 which says

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls. Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it”.

So you must first seek before you can keep just like the merchant who sought for good pearls and when he found one, he sold all had to buy it (keep it). Matt 6:33 also emphasized this saying

seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness…

However, it’s important to know that not all seekers are keepers. Money-driven seekers, material-driven seekers and problem-solution driven seekers are not keepers because they primarily seek God for what they can get from him and nothing more. Only the true seekers are keepers, because they want to know him, their hearts long for more of God, they want to be filled and saturated with his presence and power, they want to be God’s ambassadors and his mighty instruments. From our scriptural text above, David, said he hid (kept), God’s word in his heart that he might not sin against God, that is the mind of a keeper.
Before I conclude for today, I will like to state that a keeper is also a doer of God’s word and of course there are blessings attached to doing what God says. Beloved, be diligent to keep God’s word in your heart. God bess you.
