6th of July.
Text : Isaiah 66:1,2.

1: Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?
2: For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

The word ‘ Emmanuel ‘ which is one of the names of Jesus means God dwells with us. Most christians worship God from afar, some people just want him to meet their needs, nothing more, while God desires to dwell in them and with them.
We do not worship a god that can’t dwell among his followers, but rather the almighty God who always want to be with us. He did fellowship with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden before their fall. He desires fellowship with us, every true follower of his, must and should understand that he or she is not just worshipping for benefits but for his presence.
Our passage shows the passion he has towards us, how he longs for us, obviously, he can do without us but we can’t do without him, and yet he is calling us into his arms. As a father loves to dwell among his children likewise God desires relationship with us.
Though he longs for fellowship with us yet he wouldn’t take us anyhow, there are criteria if we must dwell in his presence. Verse 2 of our passage brings to light what he expects from anyone that will enjoy his presence.’ …. but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
First, a man with a contrite spirit: contrite is defined as feeling or expressing pain or sorrow for sin or offences. A man who feels bad when he commits sin, telling lies becomes a serious problem. He has sorrow for sin and will always want to avoid it.
Second, he bows at the word of God, he doesn’t joke with the commandments of God, his life is in line with the word of God.
If you can keep these conditions God will dwell with you.
* Lord, I need your presence.
* Come, dwell in my heart, life and family.
* Build your throne in my heart.
* Give me a contrite spirit.
* Help me to always tremble at your word.
* Break the yoke of sin in my life.
* Draw me closer to you.
* I don’t want to worship you from afar.
* Possess me by your spirit.
* Dwell in the lives of my children.
* Take your place in my life.
* Ask God for anything.
In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Grace for spectacular acts, I receive..
