Topic: THE PRAISES OF ISRAEL……Part 3

3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Last week we discussed that as much as God loves to be praised and that praise is paramount to God, yet he does have choices in the kind of praise he accepts and the kind of praise that is pleasing to him is the praise of Israel because they are his people.
Today we want to consider the features of the praise of Israel that makes it pleasing to God:
* IT IS HOLY: God is holy in nature (Isaiah 6:2-4) and everything about God is holy e.g his temple is holy, his eyes are holy (Habakkuk 1:13), his people are holy (1 Peter 1:15-16), so his praise too must be holy. No wonder our scriptural text says it all “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” So God could inhabit or dwell in the praises of Israel because they offered to him holy praises. In addition, the praise of Israel is not just holy, it is also coming from holy people, it means that it is one thing to sing holy songs to God, and it is another thing to be holy yourself. However, if the altar of sacrifice (you) is not holy, the sacrifice or offering (your praises) cannot be holy. Beloved be holy and offer to God holy praises.
* IT IS NOT STRANGE: The sacrifice of praise of Israel is not a strange sacrifice. What is a strange sacrifice? It is an unholy or abominable sacrifice offered to God on an holy altar. Let’s see Leviticus 10:1-2 for reference “And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.”The temple was holy but the sacrifice the two sons of Aaron (a high Priest) offered was strange to God because it was against God’s command and laid down instructions, God immediately sent down fire from heaven to consume them. Beloved, God detest strange praises as offerings on his holy altar and as an eye opener, we should take caution bringing in strangers (mockers, comedians, worldly musicians e.t.c) to come and entertain (strange sacrifice) the congregation on the holy altar in the house of God.
Dearly beloved, God has not change, he was the same God in the days of old, he is still that same God today and so he still detests strange sacrifices of praise but dwells in holy praises offered by his holy people. As you worship in his temple today ensure to be holy and render to him holy sacrifice of praise. God bless you

* Father, help me to always offer to you your kind of praises in Jesus Name.
