Topic: THE SECRET OF STRENGTH…..Part 4
Text: Proverbs 24:10KJV

10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

In part 1-3, we have discussed on the need for strength and the kind of strength that can overcome all challenges in the days of adversity, however, maintaining or sustaining the strength is as important as acquiring the strength.
Many people overcome challenges at an earlier stage of life because they possess the strength to do so, however at a later stage of their lives they become defeated by the same or different challenges that arise in their lives. This is a clear indication of lost strength and inability to sustain their strength. Now what is the secret of sustaining strength?
We have discussed that the only guaranteed kind of strength that can overcome all challenges of life physically and spiritually is GOD-BASED STRENGTH, that is strength obtained from God and so to sustain such strength its simply by staying connected to God who is the source and the giver of strength. A very good biblical character to make reference to is Caleb.
In Joshua 14:6-12 “6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the Lord said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.10 And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said” Caleb confessed he was still physically strong at 85 years just as he was strong at 40 years when Moses sent him to spy the promise land, Caleb was not only physically strong but was ready to go to war at 85 years to possess the land that God promised him through Moses and so he said unto Joshua “Give me this mountain” meaning give me my possession even though the enemies are occupying it, I will war and drive them out. The secret of Caleb’s strength was clearly stated in the above scriptural passage and that is he wholly followed the Lord
Beloved, to forever be a winner, a champion, undefeatable and always relevant in the journey of life, the secret is staying connected to God the ultimate giver of strength. When you lose God you lose strength and becomes a victim in life but when you have God, you have strength and becomes a victor in life. God bless you
