PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
3rd May
Topic: LESSONS FROM THE SAMARITAN..part 2.
Text : Luke 10:33-35.

33: But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34: And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35: And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

During the ministry of Jesus there was contact with a group of people known as the Samaritans. The Samaritans were half-Jew, half-Gentile. The race came about after the Assyrian captivity of the northern kingdom of Israel in 721 B.C. Certain people from the nation of Israel stayed behind. These people intermarried with the Assyrians producing the Samaritans. The Jews are the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They became a people through a covenant with God over 3,300 years ago.
From the conversation of Jesus with a Samaritan woman in John 4:9 The Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans, it means the Jews have no relationship with the Samaritans, despite this knowledge this Samaritan went ahead to save the Jew lying helpless on the floor.
How do we know this man was a Jew? Look at Luke 10:30 in NLT :Jesus replied with a story: “A Jewish man was traveling from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road. NLT.
The Samaritan put aside all the differences Samaritans have with the Jews, he remembered that we are all human beings first of all from the same parents, Adam and Eve. He was careless about his tribe, careless about the fact they don’t have dealings with Jews, this time a Jew needs help, lying in a dying state. He saw the jew as his brother, not as a man from another tribe.
It is not scriptural to be tribalistic, racism is not of Christ, anyone who calls himself or herself a christian and still practise racism or tribalism is missing out something. Tribalism and racism is a sin. The cross of Christ crossed tribalism and racism, anyone who is born again should be free from tribalism and racism. Jesus died for both the Jews and Gentiles, this is the understanding of the good Samaritan, he was readily available to help anyone not minding the tribe or race. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord give me a compassionate heart.
