Text: Luke 10:17-19.
17: And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
I just want explain to how his name became powerful in fact, most powerful. You must understand that God has principles, and though he has power to do anything he doesn’t do things anyhow.
It is important you know that his name became powerful as a result of his obedience, you will remember that the problem Adam had with God was that of obedience. The position Abraham occupied on God’s program should have been occupied by Adam, THE FATHER OF MANY NATIONS. Adam couldn’t obey the simple instruction: don’t eat the fruit of this tree. While Abraham obeyed the instruction; sacrifice your only son, Isaac. Excuse me, which one is easier? The former, but the later obeyed while the former did not, and that got the later, Abraham, a name.
In the same vein, the obedience of Jesus brought him a name that is above every other name, how I do know? Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9: Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
What is my focus? To explain how we came about the name. Why we don’t pray in the name of Moses, Paul, James, in the name of any prophet, or the name of any pastor. This is because he was obedient to the point of death, and not just any kind of death, the worst kind of death, the death of the cross. So, it is not out of place to say, ‘ His Cross got him a name that is above all names in heaven, on earth and under the earth. The reason demons, situations and circumstances bow to his name is because he paid the price, he did what no man did, it was the greatest price, the peak of obedience.
It is like a football team winning the world cup, FIFA will rank the team the best in the world, on God’s program your height is determined by your obedience, just as the best student takes the highest position, obedience to God’s word determines your height of greatness in this world and in the world to come.
No power, no kingdom, no realm, no principality, no force can be rude to his name. Every thing in heaven, on earth and under the earth is compelled to bow to his name. How can you have this name in your mouth and the devil still torment you? Your mountains will bow at the mentioning of this name, your problem will be solved at the mentioning of his name. The name of Jesus. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is Lord.
