PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
23rd April
Topic: LOOK UP……Part 3
Text: Psalms 34:5KJV

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

In part 1 & 2, we discussed that it is better to look up than to look down, and that whom you look up to is very important as it determines what you get out of life. So you are to look up to God and not men.
Today we want to talk about how to look up to God. The phrase “look up” requires action to be taken, it requires an effort from the fellow. How can you look up to God?
* In Prayer: King David was a man who had been through difficult times in his life that could have swallowed him up, but one thing David never failed to do was to look up to his maker in prayer. In 1 Samuel 30: 1-31, David faced one of the greatest fears of his life because the Amalekites came and ravage his territory while he was away with his army, they took away everything that they had , their wives, cattles, properties e.t.c It was parthetic that the warriors of David wept so much till they had no strength, and they thought of stoning David to death, but David did just one thing to salvage the situation, and that was to look up to God in prayer according to 1 Sam 30:8And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” So beloved always look up to God in prayer and don’t be too weak to do so.
* In Faith: What differentiate Joshua and Caleb from the rest of the ten spies Moses sent to spy the land of Canaan was their faith in the promises of God. God had made promise to Israel that he would give them to the land of Cannan. He promised their father Abraham, this promise was passed down from one generation to another, but when Moses sent spies to see the land, ten of them facing the reality of the children of Anaks occupying the land despised the promise of God, they stirred up unbelief in the congregation that they would not be able to possess the land, but Joshua and Caleb look up to God in faith of the promise that God had made to their fathers and they said they were able to possess the land according to Numbers 13:30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” While God dealt with the ten unbelieving spies and the congregation that were stirred in unbelief such that none of them got to the promise land, Joshua and Caleb were spared by their faith and they made it to the promise land.
Dearly beloved, look up to God in prayer and faith, and you will surmount every mountain before you. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, help never to be so weak or weary to look up to you in Jesus Name
