Topic: HIS CROSS AND YOUR CROSS…part 3
Text : Mark 8:34.

34: And Jesus called [to Him] the throng with His disciples and said to them, If anyone intends to come after Me, let him deny himself [forget, ignore, disown, and lose sight of himself and his own interests] and take up his cross, and [joining Me as a disciple and siding with My party] follow with Me [continually, cleaving steadfastly to Me]. Amplified.

I have taken time to explain HIS CROSS and all that it offers in part 1, and part 2. I want to go a little farther by explaining YOUR CROSS. Let me first correct a notion that many people have; you must have heard someone said , ‘ that is your cross ‘, and most times they tend to mean problem, challenge, difficulty, trouble the person is going through, even dictionary has such meaning, but in the context where Jesus referred to your cross, he didn’t mean problem, Amplified version of the Bible can help us here. I will come to that shortly.
Christ’s Cross has got a lot to do with everyone who will make heaven. Let me connect Jesus’ Cross to Your Cross as a believer. First of all, you need to know that the cross of Jesus was not Jesus’ will but God’s will. Luke 22:42. So, Jesus went to the cross to satisfy the will of the father. The father placed a burden on him to save humanity, it was a burden and he carried it successfully.
Jesus in the same vain Just as the father placed a burden on him for the good of humanity, he also placed burden on every believer, but it is a good one, how do I know?
Matthew 11:28-30.
28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29: Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
This is the cross Jesus was talking about in Mark 8:34, look at it here:… take up his cross, and [joining Me as a disciple and siding with My party] follow with Me [continually, cleaving steadfastly to Me]. Amplified.
Take up your cross is joining Jesus as a disciple, and siding with his party, the party of holiness, of evangelism and soul winning, leaving your worldly desires and passion to please the saviour.
Apostle Paul shed light on this in Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. That is the cross. Also in 1 Corinthians 5:15: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. This is Your Cross. Living the life of Jesus, when people hurt you, you bear it for the sake of Jesus, you represent Jesus anywhere you go, living to please your saviour and not living according to the desires of your flesh.
This is the burden Jesus was talking about, it is light and easy.
PRAYER.
* Lord, help me to live my life for you.
