Topic: HIS CROSS AND YOUR CROSS…part 2.
Text : Colossians 2:14
14: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
I was able to do an introduction of this topic in part 1, I want to press a little further. I was able to explain the reason Jesus had to go through all he went through. The focus here is HIS CROSS, referring to JESUS’ CROSS. A number of scriptural passages mentioned His Cross, let me start from our text, you will notice the phrase ‘ his cross ‘ it is not ‘ the cross ‘ or ‘ a cross ‘
Ephesians 2:16 And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of His cross, thereby killing the mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end. Amplified. The phrase ‘ His Cross ‘ also appear in John 19:17, Colossians 1:20, Galatians 5:24.
So, it was Jesus’ cross that were referred to in those passages. Another statement worthy of note is ‘ nailing it to his cross ‘, Jesus was not just nailed to the cross, the nailing was not just for him to bear punishment for us, he also nailed some things to the cross, those things were clearly stated in our passage: he blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us.
The word ordinances means an authoritative rule, these are rules that are not pleasant to our lives, the rules, the decrees, the proclamation, the spell, the curse we inherited from Adam and Eve, Jesus nailed all to HIS CROSS.
The things that made Adam labour hard for little result Jesus came to nailed them to his cross. He came to nail sickness, sorrow, suffering and sin to His Cross. So, his cross was meant to bear all those unpleasant things, the authoritative rule, decree, declaration that are against us, which was contrary to us, this means anything that is contrary to your progress, blessing, lifting, sound health, and prosperity.
Christ took them all out of the way and nailed them to his cross. The cross was not a joke, but to nail everything that is contrary to our well being. The cross crossed everything that Adam and Eve brought upon humanity.
Adam’s disobedience introduced us to suffering and curses, but HIS CROSS crossed them out. His cross brought you and I victory.
How do man benefit from his cross? Simply by understanding what his cross offers, believing in his cross, visiting the cross, accepting all that the cross offers.
It is important you understand that His Cross crossed everything that is contrary to your life. The power of his cross will end your suffering as you believe all that it offers. God bless you.
PRAYER.
