Topic: LOOK UP
Text: Psalms 35:5KJV

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

When faced with the challenges and reality of life, a choice is often made to look. External influences or forces working against a man can make him to look up, down, forward or backward. It is important where you look because it greatly determines the result you get in life.
It is far better and preferred to look up than to look down, several scriptures talk about looking up, for examples David said in Psalms 121:1 that I will lift up my eyes to the hills, also in Numbers 21 when Israel sinned and God was angry against them, Moses pleaded and God instructed him to make a bronze snake on a pole and erect it and as the dead people on the ground are bitten by a live snake and they look up to the bronze snake on the pole they would live.
To look up signifies hope, seeking for help, not losing faith, not giving up, but to look down means defeat, giving up, throwing in the towel, surrendering to circumstances of life.
The Almighty detest looking down because it is a sign of doubt and unbelief to God. In Numbers 13, when the twelve spies Moses sent to Canaan returned, ten came back with bad report that, though the land was good, flowing with milk and honey but they would not be able to possess the land because of the children of Anak who were residing in the land. See how the ten spies looked down and qualified themselves in verse 33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.“. And because they looked down on themselves which stirred the people of Israel to go against Joshua and Caleb who had good report, God was angry with the generation that murmored and that singular act of unbelief turned their journey of forty days to forty years in the wilderness.
Beloved, don’t look down on yourself, don’t look down on anyone just look up, there is a light at the end of that dark tunnel, and when you look up you will see God. God bless you
