Topic: MY LIGHT AND SALVATION…. Part 2
Text: Psalms 27:1-3KJV

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

In part one we discussed that God is our salvation in the times and days of troubles just as he was always to David. Today we want to consider that God is also our light.
We cannot understand the need for light in out lives and on earth without talking about darkness.
The first thing we want to point out about darkness is that it occupies the earth. Darkness covers the earth and gross darkness covers the inhabitants of the earth (Isaiah 61:2), and that’s why if you weigh it on a scale, the evils done or perpetrated in the land are more than the goods, finding justice in the land is insignificant when measured with injustice, to get a trusted person to partner with in business is almost an haculen task, so bad it is that a husband would say he does not trust his wife and likewise the wife has no trust in her husband. Beloved, all these are because darkness dominate the earth, you can only experience a better life on earth if God is your light.
The second point about darkness is that it brings fear. From our scriptural text above, David said the Lord is my light and …., of whom shall I fear? David was bold to declare this because he had the light of God in him and so no room to be afraid. This was evident in him when he was to fight against Goliath according 1 Samuel 17. David by every physical comparison was no where near Goliath who was a tall, huge and trained soldier of the Philistines, yet David was not afraid a bit to face Goliath at the battle ground because he knew that light will always overcome darkness anyday, anytime. Many there be in this life that live in fear, they fear for their lives, they fear their neighbours, some fear others because they do not have what those people have, some are scared of what decisions to make about certain issues of their lives, many have the fear of the unknown and many fear witches, wizards, occultic fellows in their neighbourhood, business places or offices.
Beloved, fear is a product of darkness, if you make God your light, you will see what is hidden in the darkness and so will no longer fear
the things that have been your fears.
Life on earth will only be meaningful, great and peaceful if God is your light, otherwise you will be subjected to the torment of darkness, make a choice today. God bless you
PRAYER:
Father, you are my light and my salvation, I pray let darkness be far away from me in Jesus Name.
