PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
9th April
Topic: MY LIGHT & SALVATION
Text: Psalms 27:1-3 KJV

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

From our text above, David declared that the Lord is his light and salvation, David understood clearly what he was saying, he was a man who had experienced darkness in the journey of his life, he had been down with sorrowful events, threat of his life by the hands of King Saul.
The first major trouble David experienced was when God gave him victory over Goliath, and then King Saul who was his master sought to kill him according to 1 Samuel 18-19, the matter was serious for David much more than that of Goliath, because in the case of Goliath he was an uncircumsied (unbeliever) Philistine (enemy of God), but for Saul he was an anointed King of Israel. David knew it was only God that could save him and so he stayed glued to God until God delivered him out of the hand of Saul. Even when he had an opportunity to strike King Saul he did not strike him saying, ‘how can I touch the Lord’s anointed ‘, and so God was his salvation.
The second trouble David experienced according to 2nd Samuel 15-19, was when Absalom his own son wanted to over thrown David his father and his David’s dear friend and wise counsellor (Ahitophel) was working with David’s son to overthrown David. David was on the run in his own kingdom, it was really a difficult time for David because the battle was coming from his own blood with the support of his dear friend. But David, relied totally and absolutely on God until God frustrated the plans of his enemies. Ahitophel, a wise counsellor gave Absalom an advise with which to defeat David his father, but because God was the salvation of David, he turned the counsel of Ahitophel into foolishness and David became victorious.
Beloved, life in itself is a battle field, man practically struggle from the first day of his life to the last in order to survive, no wonder Job said in Job 14:1 that man is of few days and those few days are full of trouble, but beloved if you can hand it over to God he will be your light in the midst of darkness and your salvation in the times of trouble. God bless you.
