Text : Luke 10:17-19.

17: And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18: And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

In verse 17 of our passage the seventy sounded like they were ignorant of the fact that demons can bow to them when they mention the name of Jesus. How excited they were to see demons submitting to them? Seeing a demon possessed person delivered through them was surprising and interesting.
They were anxious to tell Jesus all that happened, and Jesus answered them saying in verse 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Behold means see with attention, notice, the disciples were not seeing with attention, not noticing, Jesus was like I gave you power but you didn’t notice.
Many believers today are not looking with attention. Just as every parent wants to empower his or her children with education, in like manner, God has given power to every christian through Christ. So, Jesus said, ‘ you guys thought you were powerless, no, how can I send you to face demons without given you power? Before you left here I have given you power only that you didn’t notice.
This power is for everyone who has accepted the sacrifice of Christ at Calvary, everyone who is born again. How do I know? John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
If you’re born again, except you’re not, you’ve got power over sickness, failure, demons, evil, untimely death, disappointment, you’ve got power over all unfavourable circumstances, the problem is that you weren’t looking with attention to notice the power. Let me give you an example you can relate with; it is like a man with a riffle is being attack with cutlass, but he didn’t realize that he has a riffle, he was seriously panicking for cutlass while he had a riffle because he didn’t realize it.
You’ve power through the name of Jesus, just as the disciples said, ‘ even devils were subject unto us through your name ‘, that should be the statement of every child of God. How do I use this power? Through prayer, praying is synonymous to pulling the trigger, when you can’t pray you can’t release bullets but when you do, you can release missiles into the camp of the enemies.
Praying is terrorising the enemies, it is throwing missiles into the camp of the enemies. Many year ago, I did pray in a room, in a night vision I saw a demon walked out of the room because it couldn’t endure the heat of the fire of the Holy Spirit in the room another time on campus I saw a demon walked out of a room i stayed. Keep praying as you pray you will see the manifestation of the power through the name of Jesus. God bless you.
