PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
Topic: THE GATES OF HELL
Text: Matthew 16:18KJV
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The tone of the phrase “The gates of hell” as used in the passage shows that the phrase is an active group of words and not passive. So its not literally talking about a physical gate bounding a territory, rather it is a figurative expression which can be interpreted to mean unleashing the contents of hell upon the church. So Jesus is saying the gates of hell, content of hell, powers/forces of hell will not prevail against you his church.
Beloved, to clearly understand this topic we need to consider the contents of hell or what hell stands for. The primary position of hell is darkness and total absence of light, i mean hell is a place of darkness or better still the natural state of hell is darkness. So we could say the gates of hell are the gates of darkness, and Jesus is saying darkness will not prevail over you as his church.
Nothing good comes out of a life covered with darkness, confusion is the order of the day, stagnancy is equally on standby because in the midst of darkness no man knows what direction to go and so would rather remain stagnant in a position because he can’t see ahead of him. When there is darkness, life is boring and not sweet, it is also bad and not good. I decree that every where darkness hides in your life shall be expose by light of God in Jesus Name.
Beloved, I will like you pray with our scriptural text above, that the gates of hell, the gates of darkness or the place of darkness according to the word of God will not prevail over your life and your home. God bless you.
* Father, the gates of hell will not prevail over me in Jesus Name.
