3rd February
Text: Malachi 3:10KJV

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

In part 4, we discussed that when the people of God are gathered in his presence, God usually bless them as they offer praises to him.
Today we still want to consider another avenue to receive God’s blessings in the house of the Lord and that is through offering and tithe
From our scriptural text above, God clearly instruct that his people bring tithe and offering to his house, that there might be provision in his house and God promised that he will open heavens upon his people with blessings beyond their expectation and imagination.
Many people argue that offering and tithing especially are old testament doctrines but that not true, the early church in the days of the Apostles gave such that everyone has things in common according to Acts 2:42-4642 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart”. Even Jesus never condemn offering as he emphasised the widow that gave her all as offering in Mark 2:44 “For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living“, neither does he condemn tithing according to Matthew 22:23 “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone” Jesus was emphasizing here that judgement, mercy and faith are equally important just as paying of tithe is important, so he was condemning the Pharisee who only focus on tithe and left other kingdom priorities undone.
Beloved, time won’t permit me to go further than this , but be sure that offering and tithing is part of God’s way to bless his people, don’t be among the league of people who refuse to pay tithe with the mindset that the pastor enriches himself with it. If you believe God is present in the church where you worship, then give your offering and pay your tithe there, it is one way God blesses his people when they gather in his presence, don’t go to God empty handed and don’t give what will not cost you. God bless you.
* Father, as I obey your word let blessings follow me in Jesus Name.
