Topic: THE GOD OF ELIJAH
Text: 2Kings 2:14
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
The phrase “The God of Elijah”, requires a detail look into how God operated with Prophet Elijah. From our scriptural text above, Elisha who was a servant of Elijah and also the successor of Elijah, immediately after double portion of the anointing of Elijah fell on him he had an encounter with river Jordan which stood on his path to the land of Jericho, and so Elisha took the mantle of his master, smote the waters and said, where is the Lord God of Elijah?
The God of Elijah is a God of instant answer to prayers, that’s exactly what Elisha needed, he was at a point that the river Jordan must path for him to pass through, he wasn’t at an instance where he could wait and be patient for the miracle to happen and so, he said, where is the Lord God of Elijah? And God answered him instantly just as he answered Elijah, and the water parted for Elisha to pass through.
Beloved, the God of Elijah whom Elisha called upon and never disappointed him is still the same God today, Hebrews 13:8 says he the same yesterday, today and forever. And so when you call upon the God of Elijah, you are calling on him for instant answers to prayer. I decree that God will answer your prayers speedily this year in Jesus Name.
James 5:17 says Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months, Elijah is a man like you and I, and as his prayer moved a whole nation, I pray that your prayer will not only move your life, it will also move your nation positively in Jesus Name.
