PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
25th November
Topic: LEAVING US AN EXAMPLE
Text : 1 Peter 2:20,21

20: For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21: For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.

The word CHRISTIAN means Christ likeness, that is living like Christ. The whole essence of our walk and service to God is to be like Christ, every man took the nature of Adam at birth, but no one will reign with Christ with that nature, Christ’s nature is that of God, that was the original likeness Adam was made before he fell, since Adam lost that nature (God’s likeness) he couldn’t stay with God, he couldn’t enjoy the presence of God in Eden.
The life of God that Adam and Eve lost as a result of disobedience must be restored into anyone who will reign with God through Christ, it therefore means that Christ is our example, the pattern will must follow, our standard.
We are to take up the life of Christ, 2 Corinthians 15 sheds light on this: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Note this please ‘ should not henceforth live until themselves ‘ Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth, telling them they are not expected to live to themselves any more but unto Christ. Christ now becomes the role model of our lives, we don’t only look up to him to solve problems in our lives and meet our needs, but also to pattern our lives according to his.
Apostle Peter in our passage explains further as he talked about this life of Christ, verse 21 tells us to walk in his steps, follow him, live like him, talk like him, love like him, reason like him, approach matters and issues like him. In verse 22 he says, ‘ Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth ‘, it means he didn’t talked anyhow all through his life on Earth.
Verse 24 says it all, look at it here; Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Just the way his body died on the cross, our bodies should be dead to sins, and that we should live until righteousness.
Christ is our example not anyone, not any pastor, I told members of PREVAILING FAMILY, if I preach anything I can’t establish from the bible don’t believe. That would be my standard not of Christ, Christ should be the focus in all we do. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Help me Lord to walk in your steps always.
