PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
18th November
Topic: THE WONDERS OF WORSHIP
Text: Acts 17:: 25, 26
25: And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26: And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
In place of prayer last night, the Holy Spirit laid today’s devotional in my spirit, it will bless you richly.
I did say last week Sunday that worship is an act of showing the devotion to God, and that we must always make out some time to reference and praise him. Here I am talking about the wonders that take place through worship, our text is a popular scripture, you need to follow me with patience for proper understanding.
What does it mean to show devotion to God? Spending time in his presence in praises and prayer, connecting to God through prayer and praise, when praising and praying what happens? His Spirit is released to do great things, now you must understand that God does nothing without releasing his Spirit, let me give you few examples;
In Genesis 1:2 His Spirit moved before he created the Earth.
In Ezekiel 37:1, Ezekiel was carried in the Spirit of the Lord before he could see dry bones becoming living beings.
In 1 Samuel 16:13 The Spirit of the Lord came upon David before in could kill Goliath in chapter 17.
In Judges 15:14 The Spirit of the Lord came upon Samson before he could kill one thousand soldiers with a jawbone of an ass.
In Acts chapter 2 the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples before they started demonstrating the power of God.
In Revelation 1:10 John was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day before in he could have all those revelations and write the book of revelation.
Jesus spoke categorically in Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
So you see from all these scriptural passages that God does nothing without releasing his Spirit, and his Spirit his released through worship, worship in this context is giving God praises, and praying like Paul and Silas.
Praise and prayer are not exercises or activities, they are medium and means to attract God’s Spirit, a true worshipper can attract God’s presence anytime, I do feel his presence when I pray, permit to share of one my experiences, about 10 years ago I did sing a particular song in my devotion almost every morning, one night I had a revelation I saw 2 personalities like angels by my roof singing the same song.
If you must experience the wonders of God in your life, you mustn’t take worship with levity. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Increase Lord my longing for you.
