Topic: HOME FOUNDATION …part 2
Text: Genesis 2:24KJV
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Last week, we defined foundation as 1.the lowest load-bearing part of a building, typically below ground level. 2.an underlying basis or principle. 3.the action of establishing an institution or organization. We equally established that the home is first a spiritual institution and should have a basic spiritual foundation.
Today we want to consider, God’s desired foundation for every home and that is a godly foundation. The content of a godly spiritual foundation are:
- THE WORD: God made all things by the words of his month, he established the union of a man and a woman as the establishment of a new home by His words (Genesis 2:24), and so that same word of God or Holy scriptures can’t be done away with in raising a successful home or marriage. It is the bedrock of a successful marriage
* PRAYER: One major thing that must not cease in the home is communication, not only horizontally between spouses but also vertically between them and God and that is what prayer does. Also prayer lays foundation to keep your home away from works of darkness.
- FASTING: Fasting is also important, that as you pray, you accompany it with fasting for speedy answers and quick attention from above. Even Jesus said in Matthew 17:19-21 “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting”.

LOVE: This is another important foundation generally agreed that it must not be missing in the home. When a marriage or home breaks, everyone believes it is because love was no longer in the home. Of course it is true but you must understand that love is spiritual, How? 1 John 4:8 says He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. God is love and so it takes a man and woman who know God to have true and genuine love.
Dearly beloved, if only you can begin now building your home and marriage on these things you will be amazed how things will turn around for the best. God bless you.

* Father, help me build my home on a godly foundation in Jesus Name.
