Topic: THE BRIGHTNESS OF YOUR RISING
Text : Isaiah 60:1-3
1: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2: For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3: And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
Isaiah chapter 60 is a part of God’s covenant to his chruch, it is prophesy of what is to happen in future, it was written centuries of years before now, and it is making reference to these last days.
Verse 1 is a command from God, ‘ Arise, shine ..’ why? Because your light has come, verse 2 tells us why we need the light, it is because darkness will come, in fact, gross darkness upon the people.
One area we need to give attention here is ‘ Darkness ‘ because that is the reason God wants us to rise, what is Darkness? It is the absence of light, it connotes confusion, it is inability to make right choice or right decisions. It is seeing light in evil, it is justifying ungodliness, corruption, abominations, glorifying evil.
Seeing nothing wrong in corruption, in stealing, adultery, idolatry, homosexuality, masturbation, when a woman can easily come home with divorce letter for her husband, when a woman can remarry as many times as possible, when government of countries legalizes adultery, lesbianism and gay, when people can wear anything or even walk naked, it is darkness.
When children are allowed to do anything, when prostitution is rampant, when abortion is the option for unwanted pregnancy, when unmarried people are encouraged to enjoy sex as long as they are protected, when killings is regular, it is gross darkness.
The prophecy in Isaiah chapter 60 is how God intends to deal with this evil in the world, and this is it; will cause his people, his church to arise and shine, God will bring light upon his church, everyone who is born again and his committed to serving God aright is a part of the church, God is lightening the world through his people, as his people rise, there will be light, but how will they rise? they will take charge of the society, they are expected to influence the people around them, they are expected to replace evil with good, to take care of the helpless, show people right way to live their lives, and how to solve problems.
These people of God will correct the wrong deeds in the society through the word of God, they will so much influence their generation to the point that Kings shall come the brightness of their rising.
Every believer is a part of this; do make sure you’re not replaced, God does not expect us to complain about what is not right, but to rise and fix it. God bless you.
