Topic: THE PLACE OF ELDERS
Text: James 5:14 KJV
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
The word “Elder” is defined as person who is older than one. It also means a leader or senior figure in a tribe or other group. By this definition it means there are different kinds of elders but today we just want to consider generally the place of the elders which are:
- A place of wisdom: Elders are considered as people of wisdom because of their long years of experience in life and so where there are elders there should be wisdom in running the affairs of that place or in leading people who coexist there.

A place of peace: Elders are known specially to uphold peace by leading a peaceful life as examples to others, they teach peace to others and settle discord among others whether in the church or in the home in order to be able to maintain peace in the church and in the home. Where there are elders there should peaceful coexistence be.

A place that is good: Elders are not meant to be in a place and things go bad, it is expected that where elders are things should be right and that things should not go wrong and if things go wrong they should not be left to remain wrong.

A place of prayer and blessing: Elders are known to also bless in prayer and not curse. When you see a true elder , they pray and bless all the way, you would almost be tired of their prayers and blessings they would not cease to pray and bless you.
Dearly beloved, are you an elder? above are the things expected where you are, if these things are not found where you are as an elder, then pray for yourself, your church and family where God has placed you. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, equip our elders to lead us aright in the home and in your church, and society in Jesus Name.
