Topic: MOVING GOD’S HAND….part 2.
Text : 1 Kings 18: 41-46.
42: So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
43: And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
44: And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.
In part 1, the emphasis was that Elijah was a man of like passion as we are, and that he did stand before the Lord. I want to proceed on how he moved God’s hand, the reason Apostle James was telling us about Prophet Elijah in James 5: 17 is for us to know that we can also move God’s hand, the essence of this teaching is for us to bring God’s upon our lives.
I just want to raise 2 points here;
1, 1Kings 18:30; And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. He repaired the alter of the Lord that has been broken down, what is an alter? It is simple the contact point of worship, the people had before now neglected, left unkept the alter of the Lord, nobody was looking after it until it was broken down.
The alter of God in your life is your meeting point with God, do you still have fellowship with God? Has prayer not become boring to you? Have you not create a distance between you and God? The implication of this is that there will be no rain upon your life; showers of blessings and grace will seize upon your life just as the Isrealites lack rain for three and half years.
Elijah knew that if the land must experience rain again God’s alter must be rebuilt, if you life must connect to divine grace you must built God’s alter in your life, you must come to cordial relationship with him. Look verse 41 of 1Kings 18; And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. Elijah was sure that there will be rain since he could rebuild the alter of God, and now God approved the alter by sending fire, he knew bringing rain down won’t be a challenge.
2, Elijah PUSHed; Prayed Until Something Happened, he won’t give up praying until rain comes. Notice something in verse 44: And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.
All he wanted was a cloud like a man’s hand, and he wouldn’t stop praying until that happens, he knew God made us in his image, so, the hand that is rising from the sea is God’s hand not a man’s hand, the hand was rising to unlock the heaven that has shut for 31/2 years.
Fervent prayer can bring God’s hand upon your life. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord help me renew my fellowship with you.
* As we wait upon the Lord today, pray God’s hand upon your life.
