Prevailing Voice Daily 30th September

PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
30th September
Topic: HIS FAITHFULNESS
Text: Lamentations 3:22-24
22:It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23: They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24: The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
The interesting thing about our passage is that it sounds pleasant, but it wasn’t written in a pleasant mood and period, as the name of the book implies, the writer was lamenting the fall of Jerusalem. It was at a time Jerusalem’s walls were broken down, and Solomon’s expensive temple was destroyed, but why was the writer sounding like this in the midst of all these sorrowful experiences? That’s my focus here.
Prophet Jeremiah was only testifying to the faithfullness of God in all these, it is like when an ugly event took place, and you are trying to know who to blame and who not to blame, he found out that in all of that, God is faithful.
In verse 22 he said, ‘ It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. What does this means? It is means we could have been consumed but for his mercies, it means what saved us from being consumed by what we have been through is his mercies, it also means we could have been forgotten if not for his mercies, in other words, things would have gotten worst if not for his mercies. God’s mercies is the reason why things have not gotten worst.
What a word? You see some people think this way: why did God allow this to happen and that to happen, and why didn’t he stop those bad occurrences from happening? Jeremiah understood that it is not God who orchestrated all the evils that befell them, in fact, he acknowledged the fact that God is the reason why they are still alive, his mercies keep us, his mercies prevail over judgement, his mercies alleviate our sufferings, God is the one who makes things better for us.
Jeremiah knew their sins brought judgement upon them, but in case of no sin, this world is filled with challenges because it is not our permanent place, we all are pilgrims here, you don’t expect maximum comfort in a place that is not home, and it is also wrong to make this world our permanent home, so, here in this world are problems, challenges, troubles, but God has been the reason why we come out victorious always.
In all the dealings of God and men, God is always faithful, no matter what you have lost, thank God, he is the reason why you have not lost everything. This is the faithfullness Prophet Jeremiah was talking about.
Your level and assets you have acquired in life are products of his mercies and faithfulness. Praise him for his faithfulness, 9 months has gone in the year 2018. Great is his faithfulness indeed. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* I thank you Lord for your faithfulness over my life and my loved ones.
