Prevailing Voice Daily 28th September

PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
28th September
Topic: THY PRAYERS AND THINE ALMS
Text : Acts 10:1-
4: And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
Our topic is lifted from Acts chapter 10 verse 4, Cornelius was a man who feared God, see how the bible described him in verse 1 and 2 of Acts 10
1: And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
2: A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.
What a good description of a true worshipper? Just as every diligent student is expected to get good results, so does God rewards every true worshipper. Heaven gives response to everyone’s lifestyle.
Cornelius had been living his life to please God for quite sometimes, he had been living in the fear of God, his life attracted God’s attention and here the Angel of the Lord brought him good news, look at verse 4 ‘….And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

THY PRAYER
THY PRAYER
THY ALMS
THY ALMS

What caught my attention in this verse is this phrase ‘ THY PRAYERS AND THINE ALMS ‘, I was expecting the angel of the Lord to say, ‘ THY PRAYERS ‘, but he added ‘ AND THINE ALMS ‘, it means God also treasured the alms that he gave to the poor, it means alms giving can attract God’s attention.
It means Cornelius was not just prayerful, but also generous, and now his prayers and generousity got to God as a memorial before him, it means God remembered him as a result of his prayers and alms giving.
It means Cornelius must be selfless in lifestyle, he was not just concerned about his wealth, and his family well being alone, he had other people at heart, he wouldn’t see his Neighbors’ children out of school or go hungry, he wasn’t amassing wealth while others are living in poverty.
His life was a blessing to people around me, and though he was a rich man, he wouldn’t build walls around him that the poor couldn’t access him. This is how it works: if a poor man in need of money was probably crying to God for help, I see Cornelius come to his aid, and provided him with the needed amount or any other kind of assistance, and then I see God say, ‘ wow, Cornelius, you have just done what I intended doing for that man, well done my boy ‘.
Before the poor around Cornelius start wondering if God actually exist because of hardship, Cornelius quickly shows up and say by his act of kindness, ‘ yes, he does, he has sent me to you ‘, the people around Cornelius were giving glory to God through the life of Cornelius, they were thanking God for bringing them close to Cornelius?
Will you let people praise God because of you? Show kindness to someone today and always. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Help me Lord to live my life in such a way that people will praise you because of me.
