Topic: HE THAT IS
Text:
Revelation 1:8 NIV
8 I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
In part 1 of this devotional topic, we established that God was in the beginning, He was in the foundation and He was in the past. Just as He was, in like manner He is, and that’s why Hebrews 13:8 says He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Therefore when we say the “Almighty God is”, it implies:
- He is in the journey of life: As he was in the beginning of life, he is in the journey of life, and so journeying through life with him is an assurance of direction, success and peace. Life itself is full of troubles, challenges and battles that can swallow up anyone, as stated in Job 14:1, but it is wisdom to go through life with the one WHO IS, because he alone can grant you victory over issues of life, protection against the works of evil in life e.t.c. Dearly beloved, how has life been with you? Has it been fair or not? Whatever it is, you need God in the very journey of your life because he was in the beginning of life and he is even today.
-
He is in the present: As God was in the past so he is in the present, he never changed, and would not change. He was in your past, and could correct your past to affect your present. In 1 Chronicle 4:9-10, Jabez had a current encountered with God, then he presently made God part of his life, and because God was not satisfied with the present situation of Jabez, He went into his past and addressed the sorrowful past, background and foundation of sorrow to make Jabez a blessed, and a transformed man. And so people who knew before then Jabez to be a man of sorrow, and then saw him a blessed man could not correlate his past with his present because there was a clear difference in the life of Jabez.
Dearly beloved, whatever your present may be, God is there to help you, He knows what to do to change your story, He knows exactly the cause of your challenges, even if is as a result of your terrible past or your sins, He can wipe them all away. Isaiah 1:18 says it all that though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Surrender it all to God because HE IS. God bless you.
