PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
16th September
Topic: REVELATION FROM PSALMS…part 4
Text: Psalms 100:2,3
2: Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3: Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
This teaching has been impactful, we have taken time to discuss the statement: It is he that hath made us, let’s move a little further. Now that we know that he is our maker, he does not make mistake about our existence, and that if anything has gone wrong with our lives he can fix it up, so we ought to SERVE HIM WITH GLADNESS, in verse 2 the writer of Psalm 100 was saying, ‘ serve the Lord with gladness, come before his presence with singing ‘, in verse 3 he told us why we should serve him with gladness.
What does it mean to serve him with gladness? Gladness is defined as experiencing joy and pleasure, so placing the definition in place of gladness, we have, ‘serve the Lord with joy and pleasure’ . The word SERVE is defined as devoting ((part of) one’s life or effort to something or someone.
Putting the 2 definitions together we have; devote your life or effort with joy or pleasure to God. Serving the Lord with pleasure, not because you’re under pressure or you want him to do something for you. Not because you want him to fix a problem, of course, you should expect him to fix up a challenge, but if even he does not, you’re still committed to serving him. Not because of what he has done or what he has promised to do, but because we just love him just as he has loved us.
All his followers must come to a point of serving him with pleasure in season and out of season, you shouldn’t be checked upon for you to be regular in church. There should be total committed and dedication. You should be excited doing the things of God.
It is alarming that in many christian gatherings people watch out for benefits in cash or in kind, people work with zeal as long as they are sure of benefits, some go to church to get contracts, some to get connected, some to make money, etc
The zeal of the Lord has evaporated from the lives of many believers, many people have lost passion for the lost, we have lost labourers in church, we’ve got administrators, we’ve got men who come to show their suits, and display their new cars, of course, women who want to show their beauty are not left out.
Our maker is our Redeemer, he is the one who determines our lives, as we serve him with pleasure from our heart he is committed to doing great things in and through our lives. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Help me Lord to serve you with gladness.
