Topic: A TRAVELLER ….part 11
Text: 2 Samuel 12: 4
4: And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
We started this teaching on the note that King David had a traveler/guest but entertained the traveller/guest wrongly, and our focus from part 1 has been methods or means of entertaining different types of travellers, in other words, approach to issues and circumstances. Everyman’s approach to issues, circumstances, events, people, things etc determines what he gets from them.
The focus here is how to handle time and seasons, time is homogeneous to everyone, in every nation of the world, no one has less than or more than 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. A man’s life can either get better or get worse with time. In the course of time people encounter situations and events that either make or marr them, what makes the difference in the life of a man is how he handles his time.
The fact that time changes makes it a traveller, no man enjoys a particular season forever, a poor man who handles his time well will soon become rich, a rich man can either become richer or poor, depending on how he handles his time.
A proper handling of time and seasons brings the best of life in a man, a man’s life will not get better except he entertains this traveller, time, well. Every wise young man will not waste his time on things that are not profitable.
Let me limit this discussion to Time of Strength and Time of weakness; every old man you see today was once young, every old woman use to be a damsel, but their time of strength passed, they have lost strength over time in order of nature, now what speaks for them or what they live on is the proceeds of their labour in the days of their strength.
A good use of time brings fortune, God has given a standing order to the earth look at it here: Genesis 8:22; While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. So there is seedtime and harvest, the ground has been commanded by God to respond to people in accordance to their seed, the seed you sow determines your harvest.
Of course, I know you want to sow good seed, but in what measure? Look at this scripture 2 Conrinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. If you must get a bountiful harvest in whatever you do, you must not spare your strength, do not pamper yourself, God rewards hard work.
Beloved, do not let time pass without you achieving anything, this year is gradually getting to an end, and you’re not getting younger either, Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…’ Time is Traveller. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord help me to make the best use of my time.
* As I grow older, I will get better.
