Topic : A TRAVELLER…part 6
Text: 2 Samuel 12:4
4: And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
Someone would want to ask if truly one is born again does the person needs this teaching of A TRAVELLER? Or should a genuine believer be affected by A TRAVELLER both in the context of sin and otherwise? The answer is here; Hebrews 12:2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us…
Please pay attention to the last line here ‘ let us lay aside every weight, and the sin doth so easily beset us ‘. This is a message to Christians not unbelievers, the writer of this passage acknowledged that someone who has confessed Christ as Lord and Saviour, can still display anger if he has not dealt with it, after giving our lives to Christ Lust of the eyes and of the flesh still visit our bodies, the reason is because when we gave our lives to Christ our spirits became born again not our bodies.
So because the body is not born again it still receive visitors, just as your body can fall sick if you don’t take proper care of it. A traveller always wants to take advantage of the weakness of the body to make us sin against God.
Let quickly talk about one common but deadly traveller, this traveller seems to be everywhere, it’s name is LIE, it is appears like everyone tells lies, in fact, many people no longer see it as a big deal, some people have classified lie into; white lie, holy lie, lying with good intentions, lying to save someone’s life, or someone’s job or someone’s marriage, lying to making money, business lies, Gospel lie.
Can I shock you? God knew such a time as this will come, when there shall be different kind of lies, and so the bible declared in clear terms in Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
You will notice in the scripture above that the word ‘ ALL ‘ was not placed before any other type of sin, or for any other class of sinners only for LIARS, and what follows that is that they shall have their part in lake which burns with fire and brimstone. Telling lies is an attribute of the devil, not everyone is telling lies, don’t ensnare your life by deceiving yourself that everyone tells lies.
Look at Proverbs 6:16,17 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. A lying tongue is an abomination unto God, so refrain your tongue from lying. God bless you.
