PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
20th August
Topic: A TRAVELLER…part 3
Text: 2 Samuel 12:4
4: And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
It is interesting to know that God cares about every aspect of our lives, some people thought the bible only discussed spiritual matters, this is not true, it is a guide in every matter of life. I take a pause discussing a traveller in the contest of sin, here we are looking at a traveller in finances.
Let’s see this traveller through the light of the scriptures: let me start by saying POVERTY is a traveller, how do I know? Look at Proverbs 6:10,11Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. I love the scriptures, can you see this bible passage? ‘ come as one that travels ‘, it means poverty comes on people, nobody is born with poverty.
I know you will like to ask; what about those who were born into poor homes? Here is the answer; the fact is that they were not born with poverty but in poverty, it means they were born by parents who poverty came upon, they are not destined to be poor. Can I shook you? Such children can grow up to bring their parents out of poverty, so the first point I am making here is that poverty is a traveller/visitor, if it is well entertained, it will remain. See the main focus of this message, A TRAVELLER, is how you consciously or unconsciously entertain the traveller/visitor.
Let me quickly share 2 ways poverty can be dislodged;
1 WORK: you must find something to do; believe me there is always something that a man or a woman can do, if you see anyone that is jobless it is either he or she doesn’t want to work or selects jobs, of course, hardly will you see a graduate that wants to sell pepper, but there is nothing bad in selling pepper, people buy pepper everyday, so the problem here is not that there nothing to do but the choice of job which is also not out of place.
2, DEALING WITH LABOUR LOSS: some people work but have nothing to show for their labour, sometimes because of one challenge or the other, devourers would not let them rest, sickness today, damages tomorrow, this is the work of the enemy, look at this: Judges 6:6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites, and the Israelites cried to the Lord.
The solution is to cry to the Lord like the Israelites.
If you will not entertain this traveller called poverty, but go out there and hustle and pray, poverty will be dislodged. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord prosper the works of my hands in the name of Jesus.
