PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
18th August
Topic: FIRST LOVE
Text: Revelation 2:4 KJV
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
As the angel of God wrote against the church in Ephesus of how they left their first love for God, how they had lost the first zeal and passion they had for the services of God, so also is the picture of the love in marital relationships today.
Many marriages today had lost the first love that existed between them as newly engaged or newly married couples. That first love is a true picture of a common quote that says “Love is blind”, because at those times you could do anything for your spouse, you could make any sacrifise for him or her, you could surprise her by cooking special dishes for her, you could defend him before your friend or family who speak ill of him, you could empty your account to please her, her joy is your joy, when she was sad, you were seriously bordered, you could buy her anything she wanted, you love taking her out and spending time together in eateries. The height of it was that when he/she offended you, you forgave him/her easily.
However in a matter of time, being married for months or years especially when you are rest assure he is now yours forever and she is likewise yours forever, the first love began to grow weak, reduce and gradually faded away with time, for some their children takes the first love while their spouse occupies the second love. No more outings, surprises has become once in a blue moon, pleasing her is now secondary, and if he or she offends you, you react on it for a very long time.
Dearly beloved, true love stands the test of time, it grows stronger and better with time,
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says love suffers long, and is kind; love envies not and is not puffed up. Do not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil;
Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Love bears all things, believes all things, hope in all things, endures all things. Dear couples it is time to renew our love, it time to restore our first love, think on these things. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, renew my marital love with my spouse in Jesus Name
* Father, where we have gone wrong please re-direct us in Jesus Name.
