Topic: THE NATURE OF GOD
Text: Matthew 7:11 KJV
11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him.
The word nature is defined as the basic or inherent features, character or qualities of something, meaning the nature of God are the basic qualities of God. One very important nature of God we want to consider is goodness. 
God is good, all the time. This nature of God is reflected in everything He does, for example in Genesis 1:31 when God finished with the works of creation, He beheld everything he had made and the scriptures said they were very good, so God created all things good and perfect including you.
In Jeremiah 29:11, He said his thought for you are of good and not for evil to give you an expected end, meaning every plan of God for you in this life and even in the life to come is for good and not for evil. Let me make it very clear that there is no evil in God, how do I know?  James 1:13 says it all, “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempt he anyman” so everything about Him from ages past to ages to come is good.
James 1:17 puts an iceing on the cake saying “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 
The goodness of God is reflected in His love for all, even the wicked. Romans 5:8 say God showed his love to us while we were sinners in that Christ died for us. His goodness is reflected in His provision, our text above says God gives good gifts to those who ask him.
Now the lesson we want to learn from this lesson are:
* God is always good and forever good.
* God is good to all even the wicked because he desires that they be saved
* God wants everyone to enjoy his goodness.
* God wants us to have this very nature of goodness.
If you are having experiences that is short of God’s goodness, turn to God in prayer asking for his goodness upon your life and ensure you are upright with Him because Psalm 84:11 says “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, help me be a carrier of your goodness.
* Father, let me experience your goodness everyday of my life in Jesus Name.
