27th July
Topic: HOW GOD DWELLS WITH A MAN
Text: John 14: 21-24
21: The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.]
22: Judas, not Iscariot, asked Him, Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself [make Yourself real] to us and not to the world?
23: Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him. Amplified.
God’s word appears new and fresh as we engage the Holy Spirit in our study. Our passage is the instruction of Jesus to all his disciples. Jesus Christ was explaining how and what will make him reveal himself to us and dwell with us, he started by saying in verse 21 he who has my commands and keeps them he is the one who really loves me.
He went further to say anyone who loves me will be loved by both my father and I, it means both of us will shower love on anyone who loves us and I will reveal myself to him, Judas wanted to know how revelation to individuals will be possible, Judas didn’t know that it is possible for 2 men to sleep on the same bed and one of them see Jesus while the other see demons. God can make himself known to a man amidst crowd, So Judas (not Iscariot) was concerned about the possibility, but here my point of emphasis is the process.
Look at verse 23: Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him. You will notice ‘ obey my teaching ‘, now it is the teaching that you know that you will obey, you can’t obey the instructions you don’t know, the first assignment here is to find out his teachings.
Getting bored of his teachings is the beginning of disobedience, how come you find it easy to read books and stories that add little or no value to your life, but find it difficult to read write ups that will profit to your soul? why has studying your bible becomes a challenge?
God wants to make his abode (special dwelling place) with you, verse 23 confirms that, but first you must understand his teachings, then obey them. Obedience is key in the Christendom, our lives can only be made if we obey his teachings, but you can’t obey the teachings you don’t understand, so you must give attention to studying his words.
Disobeying his teachings is heading to destruction either you understand the teachings or not. It is your duty to give all diligence to understand his teachings 2Timothy 2:15. God bless you.

* Help me to understand and obey your teachings.
