Prevailing Voice Daily 20th July

20th July
Text : Mark 3:14
14: And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach.
It is important we know the reason God is calling us, why he wants us to draw near unto him, our text today states clearly the reason. Jesus called the twelve disciple, and I want to major on the very first reason here: that they should be with him. It is important you understand that just as you want your loved ones around you, especially your children in like manner do God wants us yo be with him.
I remember vividly as child, my dad would not want my siblings and I to pass a night in anyone’s house, he did want us around him, to be with him, and that is the kind of affection God has for us: to always be with him.
God after making everything was not satisfied until he made a creature in his own image, the reason is because he wanted a companion, have you ever asked yourself the duty of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden? Of course they weren’t meant to be earn a living, all they needed were made available before they were made, God just wanted them to be with him.
Hear what Prophet Elijah said in 1Kings 17:1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. Take note of the phrase ‘ before whom I stand ‘, so he tells us here that he has been standing before the Lord, being with God.
The psalmist talk about being with God time and again;
In Psalms 122:1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.
In Psalms 27:4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
In Psalms 15 he taught us how to appear before the Lord, in Psalms 24:3,4 he summarized it: Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. No wonder God called him, David a.k.a the Psalmist, a man after his heart in Acts 13:22.
