Prevailing Voice Daily 20th June

20th June
Text : Jeremiah 18:3-6
3: Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4: And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5: Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
6: O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
I have taken ample time to discuss the subject ‘ TOUCH ‘, your touch is simply your contact, and attention is given to this because what you touch, who you touch and who touches you play important role in your life. It is good to know that several lives have been blessed through this teaching.
As I try to tidy it up with THE POTTER’S TOUCH you will need to follow me, I want to make some uncommon but important points. Of course you should know that God is the potter here while we, his children, are the clay; verse 6 of our passage states that in clear sentences.
The first point here is this; God won’t force anyone to do his will, though he has capacity to do, look at verse 6 again ‘ O house of Israel (this connotes people of God) cannot I do with you as this potter? Saith the Lord…’ you see God wondering why his people will not surrender to him, since he is God over all, he has ability to impose himself on all, but he wouldn’t do that to man. He gave willpower to man.
God as the potter is ready to make the best out of each of us to bring glory to himself, as every potter will want to make vessels that will draw people’s attention, that will show how good and intelligent they are, so also God is ready to mold us into vessels that will bring him honor.
This is where I will like you to pay good attention, the second point is this; some people, believers not unbelievers, allow the potter to work on them but won’t allow him finish his work on them, and so become unfinished products. If you look around you will see a lot of unfinished products; you wonder why some Christians behave strangely; it is simply because they are unfinished products. Exhibition of anger, telling lies, lust of the eye and the flesh are proofs that a so called believer is an unfinished product.
You will agree with me that no sensible person goes to display unfinished products in the market for sales, so also will God not show a man or woman who is not a finished product to his or her world. There is always a limit to what God can do with a man that is not in the class of a finished product, he can’t and won’t go far, no wonder God was wondering why his people won’t allow him work on them as the potter in our passage. God is set to manifest his greatness through our lives but only his finished products can go far with him.
What class are you finished or unfinished? God bless you.
* As we wait upon the Lord today, ask God to make the best out of you.
* Surrender to his will and purpose for your life.
