PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
19th June
Topic: STRANGE SPIRITS 2
Text: Acts 16:16-18KJV
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Spirits operate in vessels, therefore man is a carrier of spirits. Some carry the right spirit which is the spirit of God, while some carry the wrong spirits, strange spirits which are the spirit of the devil.
The second category of people who carry strange spirits
are the occasional carriers.
This class of people are occasional carriers because they lose touch with God and derailed into sin. Their freedom from such spirit is their quick realisation that they had fallen, repent and return unto God for restoration. However, if they failed to repent they could eventually become resident carrier and tools in the hand of the devil.
There are two kings in the Bible who fell into this category at a particular moment of their lives. They are:

  • King David: King David was a great King who feared God right from his youth, he was a typical example of a man who rose from grass to grace and was a carrier of God’s spirit. In 2 Sam 11, David fell into sin, he lusted after a woman who was the wife of Urriah, one of his mighty soldier. David proceeded by every means to trick Urriah to lay with his wife in a bid to cover his misdeed and because Urriah would not consent, David plotted Urriah’s death in the field of battle and Urriah was eventually killed. Certainly, King David at those point was no longer carrying the spirit of God but a strange spirit. King David did repent and was restored but that was after a lot of casualties in his kingdom and family.
  • King Saul: King Saul too had a moment he derailed from God, he was disobedient to God till a point when God spirit departed from him and an evil spirit possessed him 1 Sam 16:14-15. Saul who had once banned soothsayers and people who operated in witchcraft spirit from the land was now looking for such to help him (Saul) speak with the dead. Unlike David, King Saul did not recover from this condition till he died. An anointed King he was but died a shameful death of a common man.

Dearly beloved,
beware of carriers of strange spirits and it is equally terrible to be an occasional carrier of strange spirits. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, I will not be a carrier of strange spirits in Jesus Name.
