Topic: SPENDING YOUR PROFIT
Text: Proverbs 3:9,10
9: Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income;
10: So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine. Amplified.
The word of God guides our lives, and it touches every area of our lives, bible has answers to every question of life. For every matter, every issue, every challenge, you get answer from the word of God.
I have come to a point in my walk with God that I use the scriptures as men use drugs to heal ailments, God’s word cures all kinds of diseases of life, how do I know? Proverbs 4:20,22 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. Amplified.
God is interested in how you spend your profits, your income, your increment in salary or increment in profit, it sounds strange to you but our passage buttresses this.
Let me answer this question; why is God interested in my income? The reason is because men are easily ensnared through money. So he wouldn’t give you what will hurt you, permit to say this; some people can’t be blessed beyond a particular worth in value of money, not because they are sinners, but because they will misbehave when such amount of money enters their hands.
If God sees that you will derail when you attain a level of financial breakthrough, he wouldn’t want you to derail, he prefers to keep you at that level you are.
Back to our text; Proverbs 3:9 Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income. You will notice that this verse is an order, a command, not an advice, let’s analyze it; honor the Lord with your capital, what does this mean? It means if you have money to start business, what you are using the money to start must glorify God, that is, the business must not be against the will of God, for instance; running a beer parlor or any venture that does not glorify God. It also means that you shouldn’t join venture with anyone going into business that does not honor God.
…and the firstfruits of all your income, this is the profit you get from business, the income you take home every month, you must honor God with it, invest in anything that promotes the Kingdom of God, invest in evangelism, use your income to influence people positively, better people’s lives, this is what Jesus meant when in said Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
See what happens when you obey the instruction in verse 9, verse 10: So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine. Overflow shall be your portion. God bless you.
