Topic: STRANGE SPIRITS
Text: Acts 16:16-18KJV
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Spirits operate in vessels, therefore men are carriers of spirits. Some carry the right spirit which is the spirit of God, while some carry the wrong spirits, strange spirits which are evil spirits.
Now let me explain the two categories of people who carry strange spirits.
- Resident Carriers: This class, have the strange spirits residing in them for a long time, the spirits have made their hearts the place of abode and they constantly manifest these spirits. From the story in our text above, that damsel was a resident carrier of the spirit of divination (strange spirit to deceive men with lies paraded as truth), and she was becoming a nuisance to the ministration of Paul until Paul had to rebuke and cast out the spirit from her.
Beloved, there are many resident carriers of strange spirits, let me sight some examples;
- There are ladies, women, guys and men who carry the spirit of sexual immorality, they are addicts and can go for sex with anyone, any day, anytime even if it means offering their body for sex for free, such people many a times cannot live a day without sex.
*There are people who carry spirit of anger, such gets angry at the slightest provocation and could fight everyone and anyone almost every minutes, hours and days of their lives, they don’t get tired fighting or quarrelling.
- Some carry spirit of theft, if you encounter such people you will understand that they are possessed because many a times they steal even when they are not hungry or lack such things.

There are people who carry spirit of divination, soothsaying, prophesy e.t.c. Some of them are addressed as Prophets, or servants of God, but they are not of God. By the spirit of divination they can tell you things that has happened to you in the past, which they use to deceive men when they says things to happen in the future which are lies. That spirit cannot predict the future because it is not of God, so the fact it tells you your exact past, should not deceive you, beware of such spirit.
Beloved, the solution to the resident carrier of strange spirit is to receive salvation and deliverance in the name of Jesus Christ. I will continue with the second category Tuesday next week. God bless you.

* Father, I reject every manifestation of strange spirit in my life in Jesus Name.
* Father, I refuse to be a carrier of strange spirits in Jesus Name.
