Topic: WHEN A CHURCH LOSES TOUCH WITH GOD
Text : Matthew 15:8,9.
8: This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9: But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Some places are shrines not church, if there were called shrines their custodians won’t get patronage . Many destines have been ruined in such churches. When a church loses touch with God worshippers in that church can’t be blessed, it is like sending your children school that does not have good teachers.
God is the reason for the church, it is should be a meeting point with God, it is a sacred place to worship the almighty God, though God is everywhere, but the church is his house, his dwelling place. It should be a place of encounter with God, a place where lives should be transformed, lifted, strengthen and empowered.
Please listen to this very important, just a school without sound teachers will make any student fail so will a church that is not sound will make anyone fail in life and mostly miss heaven. You will agree with me that many jobless and hungry men have taken up pastoral calling just for their belly and they are doing everything possible to attract people to church. Some of them are diabolical.
Some pastor are not diabolical but have gone worldly in their quest to grow their church at all cost; they allow activities of the spirit of Jezebel in their church.
I know you would have wondered at the dressing of some ladies to church, dressing that can be tempt anyone, and it will surprise that such ladies are not first timer in church, if you make critical findings you will discover that the pastor didn’t actually condemn such dressing, the strategy behind that is such lady will attract some guys to church. Such church has lost touch with God, read Revelation 2:20.
A church when you can’t feel God’s presence has lost touch with God, a church where you are not touched by the preaching of the ministers, a church that is not committed to serious prayer and sound teaching of the word of God has lost touch with God. A church that condoles indolence and indiscipline has lost touch with God, a church where people are given position because of financial status has lost touch with God.
A church where the pastor ask you to bring some things for prayers to made for you is most likely to be a shrine, where you need coconut, oil, animals or you’re asked to bathe somewhere is not of God. It is important to know that the church you attend affects your life either negative or positive.
Someone is saying , ‘ why don’t I just stay at home then?’ It is like saying because some schools are bad so I won’t send my children to school, of course, I just need to look for good school. There are several good and sound churches, it is also important you know the population of a church does not determine the presence of God in a church.
If you will not deceive yourself when you see a sound church or a true pastor you know. God bless you.
