Topic: SERVING IN LOVE (part 2)
Text: Daniel 2:16-8
16: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17: If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18: But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
In part 1 of this teaching I laid emphasis on the fact that God is loving and he expects us to serve him in Love not out of fear, we also learnt that God does not give us stringent conditions to serve him.
Here I want to press further on your motives of serving God, a good number of people are devoted to God because they are trusting him for something, some are in need of miracles, some are trusting God for next level of breakthrough, of course all these are not out of place, but beyond trusting God for something, the right motive of serving God should be from the perspective of love, it should be based on the foundation that God loves me and I love him.
When people trust God over time and couldn’t get their desired miracles, they tend to lower their commitment and passion to serve God, that accounts for why people troop to miracle services and if their expectations are not met they stop going.
God is loving, can I shook you? He cares for you than you care for yourself, you want say, ‘ how do you mean? The things we desire most times are not the best for us or probably not good for our timing, and most times God is working out something better for us.
Hear what these 3 Hebrew men said in Daniel 3:17,18; If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
They knew God will deliver them, they knew their God is loving, he won’t allow them burn in the furnace of fire, as they obey his commandment by not bowing to an idol, but they were also prepare for the worst; they wouldn’t mind being roasted like goat in the fire as long as they didn’t deny their loyalty to God.
This is at the point of serving God in love; God loves me first, he has done so much for me, and even if he wouldn’t do anything again he is still my God, the challenges I am going through now will not make me deny him, my loyalty to him is a product of my love for him not because I trusting him for a miracle.
The good thing is that when a man touches the heart of God by serving him wholeheartedly like the 3 Hebrew men, he won’t deny such man his miracle, no wonder the fire that was meant to consume them was turned inside out, those who threw them in the fire were consumed while they came out unhurt. God will turn the fire that is meant to burn you inside out, you will come out unhurt in Jesus name.
* Help me Lord to love you more.
