Topic: THE BROKEN WALLS part 2
Text: Nehemiah 1:1-11KJV
3 And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven.
Last week we said every home and family is surrounded by walls, just like a city to prevent strangers, intruders and enemies from attacking or gaining entrance into that city. Today we want to consider the kind of walls surrounding the home which must be kept fortified and not weak, cracked or broken.
- LOVE: Homes and families are built on love. Love is the first basis that made a man and a woman to be joined together as husband and wife to raise a home, it is therefore important to keep the bond of love intact, and never allow it break or fade away. Love is not meant to diminish in the family, we are supposed to grow in love everyday as couples.

UNITY: Ecclesiastes says two are better than one because they will have a reward for their labour. Unity is another wall surrounding the family, it’s often said “Together we stand…” meaning a united family is a strong family, that can not be easily prone to intruders, strangers and even the devil. A united home or couples do things together, pray together, eat together, they are open to each other with no secrecy, they know the where abouts of each other and know what each person does per time. But if unity breaks and disunity sets in, such home is just a stone throw to the enemies.

COMMITMENT: Building a family is also about commitment. Commitment to your spouse, children and anyone living in your home. It’s quite unfortunate that a lot are committed to their work more than their home, and so they build their business or other people’s business as an employee while their very own home suffers. Think about this.

FAITHFULNESS: This is a very strong wall that surrounds the home, all other points mentioned above rest on this very one. Unfaithfulness births hatred instead of love, it causes disunity and reduces if not totally eradicate commitment in the home. Husband and wife should be faithful to each other and uphold their marital vows, I tell you the truth a single act of unfaithfulness to your spouse is a broad gateway to the devil and his agents.
As I conclude, I want you to hold that same scripture I shared last week, Ephesians 4:27 which says “Neither give place to the devil”, beloved, in every way, by every parameters and by every means do not give the devil a single space in your family because if you give him a little space, he will not stop in the allowed space until he has taken the whole of your home to fulfill his ministry which is to steal, to kill and to destroy (John 10:10).
